The Underground Man

The Underground Man and Tribe Art Prize

The Underground Man, named after the novel by Mick Jackson, was one of the last paintings added to the prestigious Radev Collection, and was shown at The Victoria Art Gallery in Bath.

The collection is named after Mattei Radev, an émigré from Bulgaria who became a prominent picture framer. He befriended Eddy Sackville-West and Eardley Knollys, both avid art collectors. The exhibition, which includes works by Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Soutine, Alfred Wallis, Picasso, Modigliani and Javlensky  - it was  open until 31st August 2014.

I won the inaugural Tribe Art Prize at Edgar Modern Gallery in Bath and the exhibition of the shortlisted artists ran at the gallery from 19th July to 1st August 2014

Rachael Read, Director of Edgar Modern wrote:

" David's work stood out as bold, original and ambiguous. He paints with that rare sensitivity that speaks to the soul."
